spinal cord stimulator?

Posted in Group:

I just found out dr can't burn my facet joint nerves due to metal plates/screws in my neck. She isn't willing to risk it, and after to listening to her logic, I'm not either. This now leaves me with a final option of trying the spinal cord stimulator. Another Dr recommended it last year but I've been very reluctant. This morning I made consult appt for the scs trial. Has anyone here tried scs for cervical, arm and hand pain? I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences..... good or bad. Thanks!

I had my scs trial implanted yesterday! I need to return today to have it re-programmed. When I got home and hooked it up yesterday, the stimulation was way too strong and made my arm fly up and make me scream. So far just recovering from the soreness of the procedure. Anxious to get it programmed correctly today to benefit from the trial period.

I had the nerv buring in my nek andI have plates and screws. I got great relief. Sorry you could not try it. Make sure your Dr iscomfortable with doing the procedurre in the neck most are not,but a dr with the training can do a great job.My husband had the stimulator put in his low back. The trial was great, but when they put the perminate one in it never worked the lead wires fell within 2 weeks.Taking in out was a real mess. I know 2 people that had it done in the neck for the neck and arm pain both had good success. one takes no meds at all the other take low doses. Let us know what you decide. I hope the best for you.
